Memo Reflection
The memo assignment shows me an interesting way business professionals communicate, more in a way to renovate a company’s priorities and operation. Memorandum is a genre in writing, it is an email, report, proposal, or message that is used in the workplace to share with colleagues. The tone of the memo is generally formal and the writing is concise, making it easy to read and understand. In my memo assignment, I wrote about an issue that always occurs mostly during the summertime in my neighborhood of SethLow which is the irresponsible smokers in SethLow park. What motivated me to write about this issue is that I often go for a thirty-minute run around the park and when I run by the same area like the handball court, I can see and smell the smoke from the smokers. The situation really ruins the environment of the park especially that is a playground for the kids. The purpose is to have a solution where people aren’t allowed to smoke in the park or around people. Smoking is toxic in itself and it shouldn’t affect others in the process. The audience of my memo is the president of Brooklyn, I want people in the higher authority to acknowledge the issues around small communities and furthermore to regulate such a problem.
The steps leading up to this assignment help me achieve course learning outcomes: “acknowledge your own and others’ range of linguistic differences as resources, and draw on those resources to develop rhetorical sensibility”, “develop and engage in the collaborative and social aspects of writing processes”, and “engage in genre analysis and multimodal composing to explore effective writing across disciplinary contexts and beyond”. First, in class we discuss the genre of memo writing, it is about being concise and stating your proposition in a proper sequence and format. Furthermore, we cover a memo example from Howard Schultz, the Starbucks memo, analyzing the writing in pieces and using that resource in our own memo writing such as the purpose, targeted audience, sequence, good, and bad. Second, we had peer review to examine our own writing as well as learning from our peer’s writing, collaboration with a partner is helpful to get feedback and suggestions on our writing. Through the exercises in class and with our peers, I gain knowledge of memo writing and achieved three course-learning goals.

What I Think A Good Lab Report Is
The rhetorical analysis essay assignment for the comparison of three lab reports presents me with the writing format and structure of a lab report as well as examples of the convincing ways to present our information in a lab report. My rhetorical analysis essay is about how to cope with exam-related stress and how to detect it. The audience of my writing is the lab report rhetorical analysis readers and the psychology community because the essay is base on the research of the three lab report psychology articles, plus strategies that these authors used in their lab report. A lab report is a genre of writing just like articles, but it is research-based in the purpose of delivering the results of their studies. The tone of a lab report is formal in a professional way, in this manner to state their hypotheses and use research statistical data to back it up. In my rhetorical analysis essay, I researched the topic of exams and stress because it is an interest of mine to study how to manage stress during the pre-exam period. One lab report presents the solution of stress reappraisal, which is the concept of re-think the situation that is happening to gain better emotional control. The purpose of my research is to gain knowledge of exam-related stress and possibly boost my academic performance in exams.
The steps leading up to this assignment help me achieve course learning outcomes: “acknowledge your own and others’ range of linguistic differences as resources, and draw on those resources to develop rhetorical sensibility”, ”enhance strategies for reading, drafting, revising, editing, and self-assessment”, ”negotiate your own writing goals and audience expectations regarding conventions of the genre, medium, and rhetorical situation”, ”engage in genre analysis and multimodal composing to explore effective writing across disciplinary contexts and beyond”, ”practice using various library resources, online databases, and the Internet to locate sources appropriate to your writing projects”, and “practice using various library resources, online databases, and the Internet to locate sources appropriate to your writing projects”. In the leading up to this assignment we had library sections to learn how to use the databases to search for topics of our interest. Through that, I had to use databases to find lab report articles about exams and stress then include quotes from the articles in my rhetorical analysis writing. I have explored the genre of the lab report and the writing of the author, to study the rhetorical strategies, terms, and situations they use in each of their own research articles. Suggestions from my peer and professor helped me revise my first draft (more like a paragraph of the introduction) and direct the focus of my writing. I learned how to write an effective and convincing lab report in the favor of the audience.

Learnings From The Technical Description Writing
The Technical Description Writing assignment had presented me with methods of formatting, writing, and structuring a good technical description on a piece of technology. My writing involves the innovation of a pencil sharpener and the inner mechanics of a specific pencil sharpener. The audience of my writing is pencil sharpener enthusiasts and readers with technical description interest because my writing is the process of learning to write a technical description as well as researching the inter mechanics of pencil sharpener. The technical description is a genre of writing related to articles, but it is research-based, detailed, and informational writing on a particular product. The tone of technical description writing is formal to provide a clear explanation of the components within a product. My topic of choice is a hand-cranking pencil sharpener because there is a small curiosity of mine about this product I have been using for so long and still have no one what is happening inside. The purpose of technical description writing is to clearly deliver the information of a product in an organized structure.

Group Project Reflection
The group project was a good way to experience working with others and a creative way to explore ideas about a particular phenomenon. My group’s project topic is innovating a way to harness energy from the black hole. Where we had no idea about this phenomenon at first and through researching we learned a lot about black holes from famous physicists, astronomers, and mathematicians. The audience of our presentation would be the general public because who wouldn’t want a cheaper and more environmental-friendly energy source. We would want to gain attraction on this subject to gain support from the public and show what is possible in the future of energy sources. I think group projects are a teamwork task, every member has their significant contribution. This project shows me the process of innovating a new invention, such as presenting information, writing proposals, and acknowledging factors of requirement. The tone of the project is important in turns of text and speech, both are done formally to show confidence in your research. This group project aims to work in a team environment and practice a professional way of researching, writing, delivering, and presenting the information.
This group project helps me achieve course learning outcomes: “negotiate your own writing goals and audience expectations regarding conventions of the genre, medium, and rhetorical situation”, “develop and engage in the collaborative and social aspects of writing processes”, “practice using various library resources, online databases, and the Internet to locate sources appropriate to your writing projects”, and “strengthen your source use practices”. The breakout room section created more discussions between group members, we defined our group goals and personal goals that are assigned by roles. It created order, where each member does their task and later combines all the pieces. The project explores the phenomenon of the black hole, our information comes from various resources like videos, articles, theories, and photographs. We did the best we could since the resources are quite limited because it is a less known phenomenon. In this project, I learned to cooperate with group members and explore the process of innovation.
